City of Columbia to Host Inaugural Neighborhood Leadership Summit

The City of Columbia Community Development Department will host the inaugural Neighborhood Leadership Summit on Saturday, April 28, 2012.  Learn how to be a leader in your community!  The Summit will be held at Dreher High School (3319 Millwood Ave) from 9:30AM to 1:30PM.  Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.  Interested parties can register at http://columbia.sc.gov/index.cfm/development-gateway/community-development/neighborhood-leadership-summit/.  Participants ages 16 and older are encouraged to attend.  Registration deadline is Tuesday, April 24, 2012 by 5pm.  Space is limited.

 

Topics include:  building community partnerships, engaging social media and networking effectively, fair housing, and more!  Tentative speakers include:

  • Katherine Swartz, Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce
  • Mary Pat Baldauf, Climate Protection Action Campaign
  • Richland County Councilman Paul Livingston
  • Tige Watts, Neighborhoods USA
  • And many more!

 

This event is FREE to the public.  Lunch will also be provided.  Special recognition to the sponsors of the summit:  BB&T, Bank of America, First Citizens, Regions Bank, South Carolina Bank and Trust and TD Bank.

 

Awards and door prizes will be presented to the neighborhoods with the most participants ($150 gift certificate), neighborhoods with the most youth participants ($150 gift certificate), and random drawings of $50 gift certificates.
