College offers free prom makeovers to local students

 

Remington College-Columbia Campus is again offering complimentary student salon services for local high school students headed to prom. The event is called Prom Night Makeover and the goal is to help students look and feel their best at the big dance - all at no cost.

Some of the services provided will include updos, manicures, pedicures, makeup for girls, and haircuts for guys. 

The complimentary student salon services will be available on the following days:

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott in partner with the Drug Enforcement Administration wants you to bring your unwanted, unused and expired medicine to one of the various locations set-up by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. You can drop off the medicine on Saturday, April 27th from 10 a.m until 2 p.m. The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is located at 5623 Two Notch Road in Columbia.

Artista Vista, The Midlands’ longest running gallery crawl, returns from Thursday, April 25 – Saturday, April 27, 2013. Vista artists and galleries will open their doors from 5 -9 p.m. Thursday, April 25 and for regular gallery hours April 26- 27 for this free, signature Vista event. For the first time, the Vista is also honoring Vista artist Susan Lenz as its Artista Vista Artist of the Year, sponsored by Jasper magazine.

Coach Willie Jeffries to Speak at Annual Athletic Banquet April 29

The Benedict College Annual Athletic Banquet will be held on Monday, April 29, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the Benjamin E. Mayes Human Resources Center Arena on the main campus. The keynote speaker for the occasion is Coach Willie Jeffries. The invitation-only banquet will honor and recognize student athletes who participate in baseball, women and men's basketball, men and women's cross country, cheerleading, football, men and women's golf, softball, men's and women's tennis, and men and women's track and field.

McKissick Museum announces FOLKfabulous lineup

FOLKFabulous, McKissick Museum’s celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Jean Laney Harris Folk Heritage Awards, will feature live musical, dance, and storytelling performances; demonstrations; hands-on art-making activities; and traditional South Carolina foodways. FOLKFabulous folk heritage festival will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2013, from 10 am to 4 pm on the historic horseshoe. This event is free and open to the public.

2013 SC Waste Pesticide Recovery Collection Dates & Locations Set

The dates and locations are set for the 2013 SC Waste Pesticide Recovery Program.  Based on surveys, the South Carolina Department of Agriculture (SCDA) has established seven locations across the state making it easy for South Carolina farmers, foresters, nurserymen, golf course operators, and custom applicators to safely dispose of old, outdated, unusable, or unwanted pesticides. The goal of the program is to increase proper management and disposal of unwanted pesticides
