Benedict College announces 2013 tuition freeze

Benedict College announced that the College’s Board of Trustees recently voted to freeze tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year.

According to the release, this is the first time the College has enacted a tuition freeze in more than two decades.

The freeze will halt an increase in room and board and auxiliary school fees, and will apply to in-state and out-of-state, new and returning students, including students in the continuing education program.

McDonald's to give free breakfast to students before PASS test

The 47 McDonald’s restaurants in the greater Columbia metropolitan area will serve students taking the South Carolina Palmetto Assessment of State Standards (PASS) Test with a free breakfast on May 7, 2013.  

The free breakfast will include an Egg McMuffin and Apple Slices, with a choice of one percent low fat white Milk or a small Orange Juice.  

To redeem the free breakfast, students must present the attached coupon.

The coupon is good from 6 to 7 a.m. in store only.

College offers free prom makeovers to local students

 

Remington College-Columbia Campus is again offering complimentary student salon services for local high school students headed to prom. The event is called Prom Night Makeover and the goal is to help students look and feel their best at the big dance - all at no cost.

Some of the services provided will include updos, manicures, pedicures, makeup for girls, and haircuts for guys. 

The complimentary student salon services will be available on the following days:

Midlands schools make U.S. News Best High Schools rankings

In a recent release, more than a handful of Midland schools were ranked on a list for U.S. News Best High Schools, according to U.S. News.

In the 2013 U.S. News Best High Schools rankings, there are two South Carolina schools with gold medals, 17 with silver medals and 29 with bronze medals.

Three Midlands schools placed in the top ten.

Dutch Fork High School in Irmo was ranked at #3, while Chapin High School trailed behind ranked #4 and Lexington High School at #9.

Coach Willie Jeffries to Speak at Annual Athletic Banquet April 29

The Benedict College Annual Athletic Banquet will be held on Monday, April 29, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the Benjamin E. Mayes Human Resources Center Arena on the main campus. The keynote speaker for the occasion is Coach Willie Jeffries. The invitation-only banquet will honor and recognize student athletes who participate in baseball, women and men's basketball, men and women's cross country, cheerleading, football, men and women's golf, softball, men's and women's tennis, and men and women's track and field.
